For the “Asphaltografics” series, the car tire becomes a brush. In our Anthropocene Age, the imprint of the automobile is clearly visible on the globe. The tire, the unorthodox tool that rolls paint across the canvas in order to recreate the natural origin, is like a reaction to this. It is not the painter’s handwriting or brushwork that are relevant here, but the tire treads, which in turn are modeled on plant structures. When rolling, floral shapes and plants mutations emerge, thus closing the cycle, at least on a creative level.
